HEALING + RECOVERY
**Tattoos take between 7 to 15 days to go through the initial healing process. It can take up to 2 full months for your skin and hair to grow back to normal. You will know your tattoo is healed when it is no longer dry, itchy, shiny or peeling. Please remember that your new tattoo is an open wound. You must take care of it as such. Follow these guidelines to help make your recovery a success:
Avoid swimming. You should not be swimming or sitting in any body of water. Make sure your tattoo is not submerged under water until it has fully healed.
Avoid baths. Taking a shower is totally fine, however try not to get the area covered in soap or submerge it underwater for long periods of time.
Avoid massages. It is not suggested to have anyone rub or touch the tattooed area until your tattoo has fully healed.
Avoid saunas. We do not suggest steaming or going in a sauna until your new tattoo has fully healed.
Avoid shaving and waxing. Shaving/waxing over scabbing, flaking, peeling and/or dry skin can be dangerous and detrimental to the healing of your tattoo.
Avoid tanning. Once a tattoo is fully healed it is suggested to use SPF 50+ sunscreen. Keeping your tattoo out of the sun is an important part of the healing process.
SICKNESS + INFECTIONS
You should not get a tattoo immediately before or after surgery as this can add stress to your body and increase chances of infection.
If you are sick, please reschedule. You should be in optimum health to ensure your body will be able to heal properly, and your immune system cannot do this if you are battling a virus. Please respect the health and safety of your artist as well as other clients. Don’t risk spreading germs. Thank you!
ALLERGIES
Allergic reactions or infections are extremely rare. More often than not, what you perceive as an infection is actually an irritation. If you think there is an issue, speak with your artist directly. Lakeside Tattoos cannot guarantee that you will not have an allergic reaction to the ink and/or materials used during your tattoo, however I am happy to provide specific brands of ink used so that you can check ingredients before coming in.
Check with your doctor before getting a tattoo if you have a history of allergic reactions.
